Very weird. I don't know if I liked it. I didn't hate it, for sure, but there was so much thrown in here that didn't seem like it added to the themes in the slightest. The ending felt like Bervoets was going for something very impactful based on the themes that had already been extensively played around with, but it only served to confirm what I had already been feeling about the main character. Even the frame of this story felt confusing—why would it end where it does if this is all essentially a deposition in a legal case that has had to be extracted from the protagonist essentially against her will? Why would this be the message the book leaves the reader on? What the heck does non-consentual sex have to do with flat earthers? I can make some extrapolations, but I wish Bervoets gave me more to work with.
