Wow! after Keigo higashino I think I have found my next favorite crime thriller author.

This is my first Icelandic-English translated novel and I enjoyed every single minute of the story.

Goes without saying that the translation was superlative because I didn't have any trouble flying through this novel. It was super engaging and interesting! I enjoyed the unique writing style too. Very matter of fact & not preachy at all.

I listened to the audiobook and personally it's my favorite way to consume translated novels as you can never go wrong with the names of people and places. Also you have the added benefit of getting the feel of the language and culture of the nationality represented through the novel.

I must say I did suspect the murderer quite early on mainly because there weren't many suspects to begin with. But, I was blown away by the motives and the way the author tied up everything in the end.

This book has some pretty gory murder scenes so please keep that in mind if you are squeamish about such things in books.

I am glad I discovered this author and I am looking forward to read more of her translated works, if any.
