The book had a bit of a slow start with a magic system that had a lot of new terms and a complex hierarchy however once it got going it was fantastic. The banter between the characters was cute, Bree and Nick were heartwarming and adorable in every way and the magic of the world was woven into Arthurian legend and African American folk practices in a fresh and interesting way. This book talks a lot about grief and the way people process it. It talks about systematic racism and micro aggressions towards the main character that made my blood absolutely boil. Tracy’s writing knows exactly how to elicit emotion or create tension. The ending killed me though so I’m a bit terrified for Bloodmarked.
P.S. William must be protected at all costs I swear to godddssss.
