Because You're Mine by Lisa Kleypas

2.0

The book started nicely, and I loved the first chapter and the introductory part. Unfortunately, the moment I realized that she was going to work for the Capital Theatre, I was disappointed. You would probably ask me why, since that was the only Madeline's possibility of getting closer to Logan. Well, let's just say that was predictable and I didn't like how the things turned out.
Madeline's personality was totally the opposite to the Logan's and I guess that was the author's intention. But I think that her cheerful and always the optimist character was too extreme for a well-bred girl who knew nothing about the harsh real world. I also didn't believe that she was able to forge her parents' note, but that isn't very much important.
The other (more important) thing that I disliked, is the "I will force myself on you, and you'll like it" scene, which is not unusual, since almost all Mrs Kleypas's books before 2000 had this, and many authors of historical romance seemed to like to write it, too. To say that it is disgusting is too mild.
She is also one of the dullest female characters, and everyone loved her in the book, and she was Logan's doormat almost to the end of the book and when she finally showed that she had the backbone to be defiant, nothing interesting happened... So, 2 stars that is, I guess.
