This book is very realistic and captivating. I am used to cliche, black and white depictions of the trans experience. A person who always knew who they were, comes out as a binary trans person, faces tons of transphobia/ limited support and that is that. This one was different, and even though it focuses on one particular trans person and his journey to experience love while exploring his identity, the book captures the diverse beauty of trans people and the rest of the LGBTQIA+ community. I sometimes feel bad when reading books with trans characters because I feel that it is written in a way that sounds like it is generalizing the trans community and the reactions of their friends and family. This book though, acknowledges how people should not feel invalid if their experience is different from others. And also all of the love within this book (platonic and romantic) is so heartwarming
