Sitting on this one for a while but ultimately I think it’s a 5 star.
I listened to the audiobook and it was so well done. So much emotion from the cast while narrating.
This is fiction but is it really fiction? I feel like it’s such a good introduction or reminder of how prison systems are and have failed black Americans and other people of colour. And it has the annotations and research to back it up. You’re simultaneously reading fiction but also getting a small history lesson on imprisonment and slavery and police brutality in America.
And also a criticism of reality tv and fan behaviour and para social relationships. Lots to say but aaaaah just very good!!
