That was fabulous.
I managed to devour it in just a few hours: I literally could not stop reading, and I kept grinning and swooning like a fool for the whole time it took me to finish it. It was so, so lovely to revisit Danny and Wyn, and to FINALLY, finally read Wyn's POV. He's such a scary badass, protective and powerful and yes, hot, but what I was most surprised by was how much his more vulnerable, achingly insecure side appeared, especially when it comes to Danny. He also had a hilariously enormous petty side (sooooo petty) and I literally could not stop cackling at his thought-process (his answer to everything is literally murder) and at how firmly wrapped around Danny's finger he is. I also got misty-eyed more than once reading about his other fears and insecurities, the terrifying thought of not having Danny with him anymore. THANKFULLY, Lily Mayne has decided to give her monster couples a chance at keeping their HEAs for a long, long time.
The monster world-building was utterly fabulous and everything, even the food and plants and pools, was so vividly depicted. A few new faces appear (I'm already in love with Orlith and the two mabs: I'd cheerfully sell my soul for a few more hundred stories about ALL of Lily's fabulous characters, monstrous and human alike) and those short references to Hunter (WYN I LOVE YOU, BUT BACK OFF FROM MY PRICKLY BABY!) and Edin made me want to do a re-read of their story.
This novella was short and light-hearted, even more so than what I was expecting: it had such a delightful road-trip (or maybe, honeymoon) kind of vibe, and I. LOVED. IT. SO. MUCH. I'm so glad I'm finally, finally catching up with this series. I think I'll be starting "Gloam" as soon as my pesky real-world responsibilities are out of the way.
