Overall, I love a good pirate book, especially one with magic and an enemies to lovers pairing. I have read two of RFK’s books now and have really been enjoying them! For me, the character development was much stronger in this book than in the Court of Sugar and Spice, however there were times where Locke and Veronica’s relationship was very confusing, less morally conflicted FMC and more just, confusing, which was difficult for me to keep track of.
One issue I read a lot about in the reviews, was the ending, so spoilers ahead.
In the end, Veronica controls her brother and forces him to kill himself. Some reviews made this seem like is was going to be a snap, out of character decision, but I think it was more in character and made more sense given how much Mordan used his powers to kill. Additionally, I understand Veronica’s choice to seal her powers, but I am also tired of powerful female leads giving up their powers, so I wasn’t a huge fan of that choice, but it did make sense with her character

Overall, I really enjoyed this and can’t wait to read another RFK book!
