“You are not the first. And you will certainly not be the last.”

Rachel, a single mother, receives a phone call to tell her that her daughter Kylie has been kinapped and will be killed if she does not do the same to another family. Will she be able to carry this out and be prepared to kill another child in order to save her own?

There is so much about this book I loved. The whole concept was exciting and it really asks you, what would you do if your world turned upside down? Would you stay the victim, or would you become the abuser? The whole idea that you would be both was new for me and I just wanted to keep reading to see what decisions Rachel would make. At every page turn I wondered to myself would I do the same thing?

For me, the ending fell short. It gave us all the answers, and a happy(ish) ending. I felt like as soon as I knew who the person was who begun the chain, I wanted to keep it a secret from the main characters. It would have been interesting to see how the characters then interacted with each other, and whether Rachel and Kylie would be drawn into the chain again at a later date.
