Now that the couple has finally settled down I was quite excited to read this book. I thougt the world and plot within book one and two was incredibly interesting. It was just hindered by a romance that just kept giving me icks at every turn. So now, that the plot took the forefront I was hyped. Sadly enough, I ended up being quite dissapointed by this book.
In the first half I feel like we went on a couple of side quests I truly did not care for. I don't really see the point of them, and I think this book would have gone the same way without them. The second half felt dragged out, low stakes, and way too easily resolved. It just felt like such a letdown to me. The villain also lost all its interesting aspects as Laura Thalassa just decided to make him a horndog in this one. It made everything just feel so lame. There's also a couple of twists that I thought were incredibly obvious, but the main characters acted like they were the biggest revelations ever. So yeah, I just didn't have a good time reading this book.
I didn't hate it though. I especially liked Callie in this book. I feel like she embraces her darker parts in this book, and truly because the badass this entire series has been claiming she is. She had some truly epic moments in this book. There were still some decent plot moments as well, and even though the two main characters constantly have sex the romance also didn't bother me too much in this one. So yeah, a bit of a womp womp of an ending.
