The White Dragon by Anne McCaffrey

4.0

This third book in the Dragonriders of Pern series was delightful, quite possibly my favorite (besides the first one about Lessa, called Dragonflight). I enjoyed the focus on Jaxom, the young Lord of Ruatha, as he matures and adventures. Filled with rich characters, clever plot twists and developments, and wonderful scenes all over Pern, this story flowed between viewpoints and events. I especially love the unique setting, a futuristic planet thrown back into medieval systems and rediscovering old technologies. The increasing appearances of Robinton and Menolly,Harpers of Pern, as well as Jaxom's warder Lytol were splendid. This was a fun, fascinating story in a beautifully crafted world, and I loved it.
