honestly i kind of liked the silly/rude/uninformed william ping and i really wish it didn’t get all “it was just a dream”-ed and “of course its fictionalized but the bones are true” and “also it’s covid time right now”. i would have loved to have the opportunity to see more growth from him. maybe its just because of what i’ve read in the past but i’ve seen a lot of “here’s what life was like for initial chinese immigrants and how hard it was”, and im vastly more interested now in what does that mean for generations today? how do you actually navigate these feelings and pasts especially (in this case) for mixed race people?
