(Stopped at: "As any good cook can tell you, there are always rats in the kitchen." I'm pretty sure it was a metaphor?).

I read this after reading Queen Song, so my expectations were pretty high. The build up was nice but it just felt so bland, like it was missing what made Queen Song so great. And it wasn't very relatable. I think it's one of those prequels that was meant to be read after reading the initial books, so that the politics make sense.
I definitely think that I stopped reading it too soon, so I'll take a break and come back to it later. Until then 2 stars.

Also, the mission reports were so confusing. At first I thought it was because I was reading it digitally, and the formatting was just bad. But then I got another version of it digitally and changed the format, it still make no sense. The mission reports were a nice touch, I just wished they followed through (they were probably trying to make it realistic but... Ehhhhh).
