The Little Blue Bridge by Brenda Maier

5.0

I loved [b:The Little Red Fort|34473262|The Little Red Fort|Brenda Maier|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1498685309l/34473262._SX50_.jpg|55596893], and The Little Blue Bridge bowled me over again. Ruby is a can-do, no-nonsense heroine, and when her brothers leave her behind so they can pick blueberries, she is undeterred. Her brothers sell her out to the bully at the bridge, but Ruby just casually makes her own d*** bridge and even gets the bully to work on it with her. I want to be Ruby when I grow up.

A fine take on [b:The Three Billy Goats Gruff|30375425|The Three Billy Goats Gruff|Jerry Pinkney|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1474564122l/30375425._SX50_.jpg|50889774], with additional versions recommended in the author's note, alongside diagrams of some basic bridges.
