A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer

adventurous challenging emotional funny inspiring fast-paced

I don't know why I'm ranking this book a 4 star read. I really don't know. The writing was sub par at best. The ending was annoying as hell. But I had a fun time getting there idk.

This book is super problematic. Male main character kidnaps hundreds of women who "had no one and no where to go" to try to break his curse. She's "not like other girls" and they constantly remind you with every stupid little action she takes. Oh she rides horses and touches knives in her spare time and slaps him, yeah we get it holy shit.

I just don't think she had any chemistry with Rhen or Rhys or whatever rip off this is. She had so much chemistry with Grey, the one character I actually liked. (Side note, why do writers constantly name their morally gray characters GREY??? Looking at you Outlander and now this series. I would have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice, right?)

Bruh if you just told Rehn and Harper that you were the heir or whatever but didn't want anyone to know, they would have helped you hide your secret. Idk why he feels the need to run and hide. Ideally, for me, Harper would realize Rehn is as interesting as a box of hay and go and be in love with Grey because he is a badass.

I blew through this book in a day because I though the end would be satisfying. I WAS WRONG. But Ill probably read the next one too see if I'm still pissed. See, what do I even rate this book??? I don't know help.
