Look — am I embarrassed to have logged this book — sure. I found myself reading this at my nephew’s house. And Eric Carle is an author and illustrator I respect deeply. His drawings are always simple but beautiful and distinctive — something also seen in this book. And his books often simple yet carries a message important. Here — the message being perhaps that we are all self centred — viewing people as seeing ourselves when in fact they are not. The only people who don’t act that way and instead see the world as simply seeing it and not a world looking at them are children. In a way — this book reminded me of The Little Prince — a book I love.
