Home Before Morning: The Story of an Army Nurse in Vietnam by Lynda Van Devanter

5.0

I'm probably (or definitely) biased in my enjoyment of this book cause I am a nurse and so is the author, but I really did enjoy this book. The stories of army nursing during the Vietnam war and life after were intriguing, illuminating, and just plain interesting to read about (some nuts stuff happened). I feel like everyone agrees that the Vietnam War was a complete mess & seeing the author's evolution in beliefs about the war and how it affected her life was raw and impactful. Overall I would recommend this book if you want to learn more about the Vietnam war or you just like combat medicine stories. She supplies stories about both (& stores about coping or, perhaps more accurately, not coping with PTSD) in ample supply.
