Grieving: Dispatches from a Wounded Country by Cristina Rivera Garza
3.0
There's some beautiful writing in the collection, and it's an eye-opening introduction to the everyday violence in Mexico for those of us who haven't been confronted with those devastating stories before. I think I was missing a lot of context for how the environment in Mexico came to be this way, and I was a little lost with some of the more academic pieces, since I haven't read the works referenced in them. Still abolutely worth a read, and I'm interested to read some more intro-level texts and news on the subject.
