Contagious by Scott Sigler

3.0

Whilst still enjoying its fast-paced, action-packed narration, Contagious has got nothing on Infected. The original emanated that claustrophobic, paranoid feeling characteristic of unknown diseases. The enemy in Infected was the disease itself; in Contagious, the disease was personified in Chelsea Jewell. The protagonists were given tangible antagonists and that made the novel less scary than its predecessor.

I was, however, surprised by the gruesome ending - I expected something more textbook and stereotypical but was pleased to see that the author took things in a different direction.
