A World Without Email by Cal Newport

Did not finish book.
I’ve picked up this book multiple times over the past year trying to get into the hype. And I’ve finally realized: I don’t care. I don’t get the hype around Cal Newport.

Yes, e-mail sucks. So does Slack. So does texting. Voxer. Messenger. Skype. Useless meetings. But you know what else sucks? Habitual line steppers when it comes to boundaries. And that’s the problem. It’s not adding more tools. It’s about setting better boundaries and demonstrating them. We have a cultural sickness in the States surrounding work. There’s a true toxicity here that values work in a way that is deeply problematic. This book isn’t the answer.
