This was an audiobook for me and the narrator was completely off. Not laughable off, but the voice did not fit the character AT ALL. I keep thinking our main character, Casey, was a mature, AARP card holding actress due to the narrator's voice. Imagine my surprise when I finally find out she is in her mid 30s! I don't know anything about the narrator but she was completely off base to me, so that brought it down a bit.
I did like down on her luck (due to her own issues), heroine, but there were several things that I got tired of. While she is an alcoholic how in the world can she save a woman from drowning when she's drunk? I can't even walk straight and we're suppose to believe she is able to save Katherine? And of course we had to throw in the down on his luck sexy handy man next door-smh. I did continue listening as I wanted to know what happened to Katherine and I was mildly entertained by the plot but in the end it just landed wrong.
