Engaged in Trouble by Jenny B. Jones

2.0

I loved the Charmed Life collection by Jenny B. Jones when I was teenager, and I was looking forward to being able to read more of her work. When I finally had the opportunity to do so, my high hopes were let down. Personally, I am not much of a romance reader at all. When an author starts leading their reader through long paragraphs of describing the man's physique and how she reacts when he kisses her for the upteenth time, I usually move on to a new book. It's just not my forte. Engaged in Trouble had many romantic descriptions such as briefly mentioned above (cue the eye rolls; that's just not real life). The main character (though she had a lovely name!) lacked judgment and was, to be perfectly honest, kind of annoying. As a whole, the storyline was completely predictable, BUT I do have to say, we could all use some of Jones' sassy and witty writing every once in a while. There are several parts that are guaranteed to make you laugh out loud. While I probably won't be tempted to pick this particular book up again, it might just fit your craving for a lighthearted, comedic mystery on a rainy day.
