I had high hopes for this book after reading All my mothers by the same author which is definitely a WOW book. This one is still really good but definitely does not have the same wow factor as All My Mothers

I did like that Augusta is a very unique and well fleshed out character. I felt like I really knew her. She is not always easy to like, mind you, as sometimes she comes across as a bit selfish and self absorbed but overall I liked her and certainly by the end I was rooting for her to find happiness.

Her story is told alongside Parfait and whilst they have connections they are completely unaware of them and each other for most of the book. I will say towards the last third I did find myself wanting things to move forward a bit quicker.

As for the ending. I liked a lot of it but I really did not like the decision that Augusta made with regards to not telling Diego. (Cryptic so as not to be a spoiler) It just didn't sit right with me and meant that right at the end I found myself struggling to like Augusta

Having said all that I did enjoy this book. It is a solid 4 stars.
