Twilight: The Complete Illustrated Movie Companion by Mark Cotta Vaz

5.0

This is such a fascinating insight into the production of Twilight, hearing about the struggles of filming in bad weather, trying to beat the tiny budget they had and just hearing from different crew members.

It’s awesome to understand the thinking that went into costuming, location choices and deviations from the book. The time and effort Hardwicke and her team put into this film is astounding and it shines through in the final movie.

It’s unbelievable that the original version of the script had Bella cast as the popular track star and ending with FBI involvement and a jet ski chase - I’m not sure who wrote this original version but they clearly did a terrible job and we are so blessed that Catherine Hardwicke intervened.

I’ll never stop being mad that she didn’t direct all five movies - such a rip off and it was absolutely to the detriment of the series.
