SYNOPSIS
- Quinn & Esther are roommates living in Chicago. One Sunday morning, Quinn wakes up, and Esther is nowhere to be found.
- Meanwhile, in a nearby suburb, Alex Gallo, a nineteen-year-old working at a diner, is intrigued by a new customer - a pretty, young woman.
MY THOUGHTS
- Mary Kubica is one of my favorite authors! I’ve read 8 total by her so far, and the only one I haven’t read yet is When the Light Goes Out.
- Dual POVs (Quinn & Alex) in alternating chapters.
- Meh, overall, just an okay read. Not my favorite of Kubica’s work. Ending was okay.
- Drags quite a bit. Quinn’s chapters were become annoying, as she repeats a lot & isn’t a very likable character.
TL;DR: ⭐️⭐️⭐️Kubica is one of my favorite authors, but this book isn’t her best work. Overall, just an okay read.
Graphic: Death, Murder, and Abandonment
Moderate: Alcoholism, Child death, and Blood
Minor: Infidelity
