The Capture by K.A. Applegate
5.0
Powerful. The complexity of the issues covered in these books amazes me. This one is memorable because it is the first glimpse we get into the mind of the Yeerks. I love how these books contemplate big topics like identity and good vs evil but never give a definitive answer, or try to boast some ‘moral high ground’. This book: ‘The Capture’, is no different.
Jake is made into a Controller. It all seems to be sorted out quite easily and quickly by the Animorphs. But we don’t see the struggle his friends go through to keep him safe until the Yeerk dies, we only see it from Jakes perspective. Which is very emotional. He has no love for the yeerk - but he experiences the Yeerks feelings and beliefs as the yeerk is dying. An amazing read! This book feels like it adds more detail to the overall story of the series.
