Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata

4.0

As an autistic person, there is a lot about Keiko's character that I could relate to. It was refreshing to read her thought processes and watch her as she struggles to understand others, masks her own reactions and mimics speech patterns - things I have experienced for my whole life.

Although I wasn't particularly invested in the plot or relationships in the story, I really resonated with Keiko's character and I would recommend this book to people to gain a small view into aspects of the autistic experience.

As a side note, if you are autistic, be careful reading the Goodreads reviews for this book. I've read several reviews with very derogatory and offensive comments about autism.
