⠀⠀for what it’s worth, i loved this. i started reading shadow and bone shortly after starting this so it got put on the back burner for a hot minute. i think that did hinder some of my enjoyment so i didn’t take that into account when rating this. with that said, it is important to not that between the 30-50% mark, i did struggle to want to read this. when i did read it, i was fine, but i was almost,, annoyed when i picked it up.

⠀⠀i had many predictions for this—some where right, some were wrong. i do enjoy how this story played out. as much as i loved seeming mundane callie and des, i did get a bit bored. this, again, was mainly around the 30-50% mark. i did find some of the pacing to be odd, but i’ve noticed has been a theme?

⠀⠀i thought the entire mystery reached a good conclusion. i honestly wouldn’t have changed much (anything?) about the legitimate plot. this is an extremely satisfying conclusion to the series. i would honestly consider rereading this, especially if i get around to purchasing the entire series as physical copies.

⠀⠀all and all, i really do recommend this series. it gives you a lot you don’t expect but it’s all worth it in the end.
