This is probably the millionth time I’ve read this little novella, it instantly became a comfort reread for me, and honestly, the entire series has become one of my favorite paranormal romance series.
This is a story of forbidden love between natural enemies. Nikolai, a human-turned-vampire general who is on the lookout for his Bride, who is the one woman who can make him breathe again, make his heart beat, and make him become stronger. He’s just not expecting someone like Myst, a Valkyrian warrior to be the one. I really liked seeing these two get together. A vampire hater who is supposedly “the one” …of a vampire!!!! Nikolai is sexy, alpha, and struggling with the feelings he has for the totally zany, quirky, sassy, devious, and gorgeous Myst. I loved their interaction and their banter was an absolute laugh a minute. I love the concept of destined mates in my PNR books. I love it when the couple cannot avoid the inevitable and they are struggling with their feelings and their raising passion until they fall in love with each other.
this was also the book that introduced me to the world of Valkyrian women, who I just absolutely fell in love with. They love clothes, make-up, and bright and shiny things, and fighting, and they have the absolute best lines ever!
Fantastic dialogue, humor, lovable characters, and the zany world of the Lore that you just want more and more. Overall, this was a fantastic choice for a quick and steamy read. It was entertaining, sexy, and intriguing. I was sucked right into this story from beginning to end.
