Thank you very much to the author for the E-ARC.

'Relationships are about picking someone and working hard to make it last, through the good and bad, the ups and downs '

I thought the quote from the book about relationships was very apt as the difficulties with relationships forms a major part of the plot.

Severed is book two of The Linked Trilogy and follows directly on from the cliffhanger ending in book one, Scorched.

Where the first book was told from two POVs, this one has three. We get chapters from the three main characters of Kyra, Jadox and Isaac.
Three Mystiers with different elemental Magik powers.
It's a romantic fantasy or 'romantasy' with the tropes of enemies to lovers, love triangles and possibly even friends to enemies.

Having introduced the world and the characters in the first book, Severed hits the ground running. The plot moves along at a good pace. There is a sex scene early on but just as I thought this could be a smut-fest the fantasy adventure kicked in keeping the characters moving and frequently placing them in danger.

Isaac was late to the party in the first book but here gets equal billing. Thankfully there's much more depth to his character than first appears although every now and then we're reminded he's the librarian for his people even though he never demonstrates any characteristic that fits with that.

With Isaac and Jadox getting equal billing there's more of a choice as to who your favourite will be.

The Linking from the trilogy title is a process of a couple joining together and more or less sharing parts of their soul.
I won't give away who is Linked but with this book being called Severed there's the real possibility of a Link being torn asunder. Whether that will happen or how dangerous it is I'm not going to divulge.

Overall it's a fun, entertaining fantasy adventure with Magik, creatures, heroes and villains, twists and surprises and it leaves us with another cliffhanger ending before the third and final part.
