Defy the Worlds by Claudia Gray

4.0

Again well written and entertaining, but had some pitfalls. A lot of what makes the first book and the second half of this one so great is the banter between Abel and Noemi, and we lose that for a while. I also think the ending was interesting, if predictable. The only thing I don’t like is that it sacrifices the aspect of the relationship that makes it so interesting, a human and a mech being in love. I do wish that we wouldn’t keep falling back on the same conflicts that are always simultaneously solved and not solved. But that’s probably just the part of me that loves stand-alone books and hates recurring problems.
