well i certainly demolished this book. i gasped a few times. and it leaves me wanting more.

the overall premise of this book is very interesting. truly distopian. fills the little distopian hole in my heart. i found the various perspectives in this book either concerning or hopeful, depending which character it came from. the character developments were well planned and it left me wondering what’s more to come in the next book.

i would say this book was more medium to fast paced. right in the middle. i kept reading because i didn’t really know where it was going, but i wanted to find out. this book is gruesome, it’s the nature of this subject, but parts of it show pieces of humanity (that almost all scythes aspire to have). the side plots were very interesting and helped move the book along, albeit i don’t know if they were necessary? they kept me intrigued, which i guess is the point, but i wish they were fleshed out a little more. it just felt too quick in the grand scheme of the book. i hope they get expanded upon in the next one
