I expected a silly little book about high school romance and instead got a book about trauma and parental issues that ripped my heart open and then sewed it back together. the characters were so well written and their issues were so deep, I really appreciate that it didn't just magically resolve. their relationship was so complex and it was an amazing slow burn. when I finished it I stood up and applauded.
