You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero

5.0

'All life is either moving forward and evolving or shrinking back and dying. ' This is where this books comes in. We constantly need a source of motivation and self help books does it for me. I can say this confidently that this book was worth my time and money. I just pray I'd implement at least one or two things I've learnt from it. Otherwise it'll all be futile just reading it.

Jen Sincero, serves up 27 bitesized chapters full of hilariously inspiring stories, sage advice, easy exercises, and the occasional swear word. The chapters that touched on meditation, forgiveness, gratitude, money, giving (in short part 3) and not forgetting those that touched on faith, loving oneself and the power of the mind were my personal favorite.

Sincero speaks to me, the reader, as if we are a cross each other at a Cafe sipping coffee while catching up and in a very relatable language and scenarios. While reading one chapter, 'Fear is for suckers', I so laughed at the opening scene that I couldn't breathe. She goes on to say, 'we've made being in fear a habit. " and yet "Fear lives in the future. The feeling of being afraid is real, but the fear itself is all made up because it hasn't even happened yet..."

It's one thing to rate fiction books and a whole other to rate non fiction books. I find it very hard to rate non fiction more so self helps because the only way to judge them accordingly is to put into practice what one has learnt. That being said I'd give this one 5 stars in regards to relatability, humorous, teachable yet entertaining, good feeling vibes I felt after reading every chapter.

I know this is one book added to my self help collection that I'd read over and over because just like a muscle the psyche, beliefs and habits need to be exercised, dressed and redressed to fit our desires.  So 'Beam Me Up Scotty'.
