How To Murder A Marriage (The Ex-Whisperer Files #1) by Gabrielle St. George

adventurous dark funny mysterious tense medium-paced

3.5

When relationship advice blogger Gina Malone moves to a cottage in a small northern town near her extended family, she has no idea what’s coming to her.  A letter from a reader to her Ex-Whisperer blog asks Gina how to escape an abusive relationship. Gina responds to her with sound advice. It isn’t until she hears from the woman’s husband that things begin to go awry. Toss in a stalker ex of her own, a hot handyman, a couple of crazy Italian aunties and a cousin who has your back and you have a different kind of domestic drama than you might expect.

I really enjoyed the author’s sense of humour, especially her term for two of the exes. There is also two dogs that feature heavily in the story and who are both adorable. A side cat and two twin chihuahuas also play their parts.

As for the drama part of the story, I did worry a little bit that the characters would all be too drunk if something happened but when the tension was needed it was there.

Overall, I really liked the twist and the romantic tension was an interesting and not often seen plot point that worked for me.

Thanks to the author @gabrielle.st.george and @levelbestbooks for an ARC in exchange for my honest review. How to Murder a Marriage comes out November 9, 2021.
