i think the title gives too much away without really living up to it.
obviously, cats do not disappear from the world (it says 'if').
i expected so much more emotionally from this book given the title and premise but i didn't end up connecting to the story. again, i think of Babel and R.F. Kuang saying, "an act of translation is always an act of betrayal," because i feel like i never truly understand translated works no matter how hard i try. i did really love the
anecdotes about his mother.
