The Doldrums by Nicholas Gannon

4.0

This book is like a Wes Anderson movie in middle-grades novel format. I really enjoyed the quirky characters. It does move a bit slow but that's kind of the point, it's about the journey not the destination for sure. It is totally worth the perseverance. There are many interesting little tidbits thrown in throughout that have me desperately wanting to know more. What are Archer's grandparents up to anyway??! All in all, an interesting mystery, many hints of things to come and unique characters make for a great read.
