Courage for Beginners by Karen Harrington

4.0

Goodness. This book has a character you are rooting for. The entire time I was reading, I sympathized with how tragic Mysti Murphy's life was, but how hope was stringed throughout the entire story. It broke my heart that the person she needed the most to take care of her could not. I don't have the exact huge misfortune as Mysti, but I could relate and I felt her frustration. For a seventh grader she has way more courage and is way more mature and considerate of others, than I was, I think. I'm glad that Mysti had a great couple of friends and that she didn't change to be popular. Mysti is a girl people should look up to.
