Dawson and Piper were the ultimate star-crossed lovers, being from rival families and having hurt each other dreadfully in the past, and I loved every page of their story!

D is a playboy tattoo artist, who isn’t bothered that he won’t gain his inheritance until he’s engaged, until his teenage daughter Emmie comes to live with him. Wanting to give her the best start at life, he sends her to a private school in London, and on enrolment day, bumps into a ghost from his past. Piper was his only love who he thought had died after betraying him in the worst way, but there she was in front of him like nothing had changed. He realises this is his perfect opportunity to exert revenge; use her to get his inheritance and then finish what was started 18 years ago. But he doesn’t plan for falling in love with her all over again. At first, Piper is scared when D is back in her life, but when he starts to woo her, she thinks all is forgiven and it’s a second chance at a life together. But others from their past have different ideas to destroy them all over again, so will it work?

D wanted revenge by destroying Piper’s heart like she did to him, but he soon realised he had always loved her, no matter how hard he tried to keep his eye on the goal. Piper was worried about the repercussions of having D back in her life after her actions as a teen, but she quickly rebuilt the trust she had lost when she let him down, and ultimately, she was the one with the most to lose. Her relationship with Emmie was so pure, two strong women with D wrapped around their little fingers!

I loved the lack of miscommunication over the major event in their past, unlike in most books of this trope where there’s always a big misunderstanding which separated them for so long. Instead, D and Piper were honest about the betrayal from the start, making them seem like a more genuine couple, even though there were secrets throughout. I can’t believe this is the end of the series, but I need Emmie’s book ASAP! Second generation maybe Tracy?
