What Lies Between Us by John Marrs

1.0

*spoilers* I almost stopped reading this multiple times but with it’s mostly good reviews I kept going to see if I was missing something. If you’re looking for a book filled with miscarriages, talk of infant death, grooming, child abuse, adult abuse and those disturbing topics be the only “thriller” part of it then maybe this is the book you’re looking for. There wasn’t a single twist that was exciting and there are so many holes in the plot that make the whole thing unbelievable. The neighbor who was friends with the mother who knew about the grandson and Nina not being fit the whole time wouldn’t have investigated a little harder when Maggie just vanished, the police wouldn’t have looked into Nina more when Dylan disappeared especially after what happened at his mothers house? The whole story line about the little girl across the street was a part of the story for what reason? She was actually being abused in the end to show Maggie was telling the truth but it wouldn’t have mattered to Nina either way. It was just there to add more child abuse to an already very abusive story.
