Darkship Thieves by Sarah A. Hoyt

Classic space opera. This drew me in immediately and kept me reading. Athena wakes up in a bad situation and it just keeps getting worse and worse. But she's got a sense of humor about herself, besides being able to totally kick ass and save herself.

One thing I really liked was the author showing us an attraction between Athena and Kit but not bludgeoning us over the head with the details of their sex life. Sometimes I like a story that lets the characters close the bedroom door and have some privacy.

Nice twist at the end, too.
