it was okay. the fact that the book ends
with ann having the leave everything - her animals, home, books - she grew up with and leave with a horrible man
sucks. but i did read this in one sitting, and it had me sweating and nervous. i just am kind of over the ‘horrible, evil stranger’ and ‘young, sweet, religious girl’ trope.
