The Only One Left by Riley Sager
4.0
Sorry to be boring, but Riley Sager almost always works So Well for me. His books are all so intensly readable, and I have read almost all of them over the course of one day.
While this wasn't nearly as kooky as The House Across the Lake had been, it had So Many twists (some that yes, I did see coming). Love a thriller that will at the end lull me into a false sense of security that the twists are over & that the book is just wrapping up, only to surprise me with another twist on the final pages. Had the time of my life.
As a girlie who, in my (regrettable) true-crime-phase, was really into Lizzie Borden, this was so deeply entertaining. Really enjoyed the nursery-rhyme made up about our in-universe Lizzie Borden stand-in.
Obviously, this is not a ground-breaking thriller, or even my favourite Sager novel (as I am a loyal bitch to The Last Time I Lied), but overall a great time, and I will continue to read everything that he publishes.
