Story is a nice intro to the events happening twelve years prior to the events in Hellhounds never lie.
Mercer and Oak are well written and likeable characters. They are fated mates and so perfect for each other. Despite being a big wolf shifter Oak is a gentle soul that is hurt when people treated him badly, knowing he wouldn't fight back. While Mercer is this shiny, little raven shifter Oak has been admiring from a far. It's beautiful and so satisfying to read how their connection grows and how that was something both always yearned for.
The story is interesting and nicely explains some of the background of the underlying plot/ongoing mystery of this series.
