I'm not saying that this is a perfect book, I am saying it's my perfect YA romance.
Academic rivals to lovers is the best trope to ever exist. The way they spent four years bringing out the best in each other, the tension building each time they were in competition, to then team up on the last day of school when they realize that it's all over : incredible.
Also appreciated : the discussion around religion and antisemitism, romance novels being a respectable literary genre, sex being a topic that we can talk about, and family expectations and comparison being overwhelming. The author also loves Seattle, and I loved reading about it.
It's a great romance, their history is well fleshed out, they work so well together as a couple and I loved the fact that everyone saw it coming before they did.
