OUTLIER OPINION!? The reviews I’ve read and the overall Goodreads rating of Sager’s latest book, Middle of the Night, are dismal. Had I looked at its ratings/reviews, I probably wouldn’t have selected it in my BOTM box, but…
I’m glad I did. I liked this one! Maybe I have lower standards and expectations for thrillers, but this one totally scratched my itch. I had come off some really heavy lit fiction reads and needed something easier and lighter, and I really enjoyed my experience with this one.
Sager is a go-to for me in the summer thriller genre…I personally think he gets a bad rap - kind of like people who knock Emily Henry. I think these two nail their genre and I thoroughly enjoy reading their books.
(I’ll be here again next year reviewing Sager’s next book…and probably still enjoying it!)
