The Boyfriend: Every Parents Worst Nightmare by D E McCluskey was...dark to say the least. And not in a bad way, but it was unexpectedly dark. Some portions of this book almost seemed like borderline torture porn in written form. It made me cringe, and pause to process. But the story kept me captivated, I needed to know how it ended.

I think I caught onto the Jay twist about halfway through the book, so I can't say I was shocked, but enjoyed how the beginning of the book ties into the circumstances surrounding Jays identity and discovery.

Only complaint was odd formatting when it came to emphasis statements. Lots of ! where I wouldn't put them, some were mildly offputting and odd.

4/5.
