So yes, I gave in to the hype and I was expecting an enjoyable book, clearly YA and not my target, a bit cringey,... And it didn't happen. I honestly loved it. Fourth wing had me hooked right from the start, with Violet's narration and giving information about worldbuilding in the correct times it set up a great first book. So while yes, the love story and some parts of the plot were predictable a good twist should be able to be seen at least partially coming in my opinion. It's interesting and it delivers everything it promises: if it's dragons you want, you'll get tem. I wasn't even expecting to be this into them, honestly never been a big Targaryen fan. I don't know if The Emperyean might be the next big fantasy saga (think of ACOTAR style), but to me, it has the potential to hook lots of people into the genre and for that alone deserves the praise.
