The tension in The Talented American. Ripley waxes and wanes but never entirely disappears. Not set at the break neck pace of Janes Cain’s novels, I found the plot was not as even as I had expected, and the conclusion a bit abrupt, but the character work  Patricia Highsmith makes up for it. A classic for good reason.
