The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett
2.0
One of the most frustrating books that I've ever read. Sure, the book has a few good moments, but for most of the 976 pages, I just wanted to reach into the book and kill one of the characters..And if you're ok reading a book like that, then by all means, you'll love this book.
The writing was ok, a bit blunt, but there are just so many characters that were created for no other reason than to make you loathe them, and that didn't make it an enjoyable book. There are very few "good" moments, and every time you seem to like a character, something horrendous happens to them.
Be warned that there are some pretty graphic rape scenes as well..this is a book I would definitely not recommend to anyone.
